What is The Bonspiel List?
It all begins with an idea.
Hi, my name is Ben Blackmer, and I’m the creator of The Bonspiel List (TBL). It’s great to meet you.
I started TBL in the summer of 2023 because I want to play in more bonspiels outside my primary clubs. My wife and I traveled with a team to the Detroit Curling Club for their Mixed Open in February of 2023, and it made me think, I want to do more of this. I’m a member of both the Denver Curling Club and Rock Creek Curling in the greater Denver area, and while they are both awesome facilities and communities, traveling for curling and playing new teams is great fun and a great challenge.
But, there’s a catch: it’s hard to know when bonspiels are 1) going to happen, and 2) when to register for them! Heck, it’s hard to know where the clubs are and where you could even travel to.
Thus, TBL was born.
My first goal here is to make it easy for curlers of all levels to look up bonspiels and filter for events that fit your desire. Want to curl in Minnesota in December? Check. Want to find clubs that have dedicated ice in Oregon? Double check. Want to find bonspiels with a minimum number of guaranteed games greater than 4? Triple check.
To do this, I’m going to need your help, particularly from you who run bonspiels. I will do my best to keep the list updated, but I need your help to tell me when bonspiels have been announced. That’s what this handy form is for:
When you have a new bonspiel to announce, I will be forever grateful if you’d fill out the form.
Beyond this website and list, I will send out a weekly email announcing a few key pieces of information:
Newly announced bonspiels
Bonspiels with upcoming registration dates
A showcase of winners from the past week
To register for the email, simply complete the form at the bottom of the homepage:

Finally, I would also love to highlight recent bonspiels and the winners of those spiels in the weekly newsletter. If you’d like to send me a photo and the names of the winners, I can include them in the email.
Actually, one more thing: this site is very young, and I’d love to hear from you about ideas or suggestions or anything at all. You can email me anytime at ben@thebonspiellist.com.
Good curling!
